This morning the School Council had the opportunity to meet with Town Mayor Councillor Rachel Evans BEM in the Mayor’s Parlour.
The children asked “Madam Mayor” about her role and asked several questions including “What is the hardest part?” and “What do you enjoy the most?”. Prior to today’s visit the School Council had surveyed their classes and shared the results of their survey with the Town Mayor. When asked about what their favourite part of Torpoint was, the children had replied: Community Days, Skate Park, Parks (green spaces) and the vibrant Community Spirit. The Town Mayor has kept a copy of the questions and feedback about Torpoint from the children and is planning to share them with the rest of the Town Council. This was a great opportunity for the children to voice their opinions about their community and see what it would be like to play a similar role in the community when they are older.
The visit concluded with a tour of the Council Chambers and a closer look at the Mayor’s Chain.
