On Sunday, myself, Mr. Nicholson and a number of our team captains and head pupil attended the Mayor’s Civic Service. This is always a highlight of the year for me because I love seeing so many of our pupils, past and present (and future!!) taking part in such an important community event. I was very interested to hear such aspiration from the Mayor, Gary Davies, regarding the plans for the town. It is so amazing to hear someone who has a vision for the town and who wants to see such marked improvements. I also really admire the choices that have been made for the charities this year – The Mustard Tree Cancer Support Centre and the 3G pitch. Let’s support if we can. And then finally, I thought the address by Reverend Michael Woodall was superb. He talked about geese!!! How they worked together, how they succeed together and how they never leave any goose behind. I am sure that this resonated with so many people in the congregation. I know that as a community we should make sure we are honking (supporting) each other more than we are moaning about each other. Great speech!! (Oh, and as a school, we will be learning the rather amazing songs ‘Trelawny’ and ‘This is my Cornwall’. They were sung at the service on Sunday and just beamed with ‘Belonging’, which is so important to us at Carbeile. Watch out for the performances!!)
