At Carbeile we provide a wealth of opportunities to our children in order that they can express themselves confidently and creatively through music.

At Carbeile, it is our intent to make music an enjoyable, creative and stimulating learning experience for all pupils. We are committed to ensuring everyone understands the value and importance of music in the wider community.
Take a look at how our children’s learning in Music progresses through the school through a combination of instrumental learning and composition. All lessons have been carefully considered, planned to cater for the learning needs of all children and with careful links made wherever possible to previous year/next year learning in Music and, where appropriate, in other subjects.

Being able to perform on a musical instrument takes time and the children cannot move on to the next step until they have mastered, and can recall, important elements of their learning. Therefore every lesson begins with a ‘Total Recall’ session in which children can share what they remember from the previous lesson; the previous unit; and the previous years.

In addition to our peripatetic teachers, our First Access tuition and our Rock Steady music provision, Carbeile Junior School are fortunate to have a Music Subject Lead with over 30 years experience as a professional musician. This asset allows us to run a weekly choir/folk band named the ‘Carbeile Pasties’, and termly afterschool clubs in Samba Band, Recorder ensemble and Theatrical Singing Club.
New to Carbeile for the 2025/26 academic year will be an access to Charanga Online Music Scheme for all children at Carbeile. Every pupil will be given their own login and will be able to compose and make music at home as well as at school! Watch this space for an update!

In addition to our Total Recall quizzes, which take place during every lesson, Children will have developed skills in either composition or performance by the end of every half term. Teachers record the results of these performances and are able to assess just how far the pupils have progress and note where further attention is need to be focused.
