Hours: Full time

Required from: September 2021

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a junior school in Cornwall that, in June 2016, was judged as “securely good, well on the road to outstanding”.  Join our amazing team and come to work every day with inspiring children. Our school is filled with laughter and likeminded people who want to make a difference to the children in Torpoint.

We are actively seeking, and excited to find, a non-class based SENCO (from September 2021) who has the ability to form outstanding relationships with children and adults and get to the heart of each and every child in their care; someone who has high aspirations and is passionate about providing children with the very best opportunities. Although this is a full-time permanent position managing the SEN provision in the school, there could be the option of a 4 or 5 day contract.

The successful candidate will demonstrate best practise throughout the school to ensure children of all attainment levels reach their potential.

Central to the position will be to outline the strategic direction and development of SEN provision, leading and managing staff and making efficient and effective deployment of staff and resources. The role would entail assisting pupils with special needs such as: dyslexia, dyspraxia, autism, ADHD, dyscalculia and mild learning difficulties. Carbeile Junior School has a strong focus on staff well-being so you will be fully supported in your role; you will spend time with the current SENCO to ensure an effective and comprehensive handover.

If you would like the opportunity to manage the SEN provision in an amazing school and you are keen to be part of our very special team, please do request further details. Application packs are available via email from secretary@carbeile.cornwall.sch.uk or by following:  http://www.carbeile.cornwall.sch.uk/about/vacancies/ (check out our website while you’re there)!  If you would like to have a chat with Pete Hamlyn, headteacher, prior to application, then please organise this through the email address above.

Visits to the school are warmly welcomed and actively encouraged (as you can probably tell we are extremely proud of our children and school). By visiting the school prior to applying, you will get a real feel for the school and be able to ask further questions, so please do phone for an appointment 01752 812474

Our school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, therefore all positions are offered subject to an enhanced DBS disclosure and references confirming your suitability to work with children.  We will also explore all digital footprints as part of our recruitment process to ensure suitability for the post.
